What time does Phantom Blade Zero unlock?
It unlocked at 02:00 UTC on October 29, 2026, and the game is live now. S-GAME dated the launch to October 28 at 7:00 PM PDT — the same instant — and every store field below agrees with it.
Those two PDT timestamps map onto the figures this page has been tracking from other sources:
| Source | What it publishes | Hour |
|---|---|---|
| Preload announcement (Oct 26) | Launch October 28, 7:00 PM PDT; preload October 26, 7:00 PM PDT | 02:00 UTC, Oct 29 |
| PS Store concept page | 2026-10-29T02:00:00Z (displayed as 10/29/2026 02:00 AM UTC) |
02:00 UTC |
| Steam listing (US) | October 28, 2026 plus an unlock countdown | Matches once converted |
| August 17 developer post | October 29, with October 28 in the US and select regions | No hour |
The earlier version of this page listed the Steam unlock hour as unconfirmed. The announcement closes that gap, and it closes it in the same direction as the PS Store field: one launch moment for the whole release, expressed in Pacific time.
Last checked: October 29, 2026, after the global unlock.
Why do US listings say October 28?
Because October 28 and October 29 are the same instant written in two different time zones.
02:00 UTC on October 29 is 10:00 PM Eastern and 7:00 PM Pacific on October 28. That is exactly the split PlayStation's August post describes with its "October 28 in the US and select regions" footnote, and the preload notice now confirms it in the developer's own words by dating the launch to October 28 at 7:00 PM PDT.
So the earlier American date is not a platform difference and not an early-access perk. One instant, two calendars — see our release date guide for the announcement history that established the date itself.
Phantom Blade Zero unlock time by region
Converted from the confirmed instant, October 29, 2026 at 02:00 UTC:
| Region | Local unlock | Local date |
|---|---|---|
| UTC | 02:00 | October 29 |
| US Pacific (PDT) | 19:00 | October 28 |
| US Eastern (EDT) | 22:00 | October 28 |
| UK (GMT) | 02:00 | October 29 |
| Central Europe (CET) | 03:00 | October 29 |
| China (CST) | 10:00 | October 29 |
| Japan (JST) | 11:00 | October 29 |
| Sydney (AEDT) | 13:00 | October 29 |
These conversions use the offset in force on launch day. American summer time ends on November 1, 2026 and European summer time ended on October 25, 2026, so US zones are still on daylight time while the UK and Central Europe are already on standard time. Getting that backwards is the most common way these tables go wrong.
The table is arithmetic from a published instant, not a promise about the second the servers open. Digital launches occasionally slip by minutes, and a storefront countdown overrides this table on the day.
Preload window and install size
| Requirement | Verified status | Recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Preload start | October 26, 7:00 PM PDT = October 27, 02:00 UTC | Start it overnight and check it completed |
| Install size | ~145 GB | Plan the free space before the download, not after |
| Free space for preload | At least 300 GB, per the official notice | The surplus covers download and extraction |
| Drive type | SSD required at minimum and recommended tiers | An HDD is below the published minimum |
| Day-one patch | ~5 GB, improves ray tracing and path tracing performance | Install it before launching a preloaded copy |
| NVIDIA driver | 617.42 recommended; 621.01 reported unstable | Clean install when rolling back |
An earlier version of this page carried a 100 GB storage figure. The official preload notice gives approximately 145 GB installed and 300 GB free, so the smaller number has been removed — it would have left players short by roughly 45 GB.
The patch detail matters for launch night specifically: a preloaded copy is not the patched build. S-GAME asks preloaded players to install the update before launching. Our day-one patch guide covers the install order and the driver rollback.
Do PC and PS5 unlock at the same time?
Yes, according to the launch announcement. It gives a single launch moment for the game rather than separate per-platform times, and the PS Store field independently places that moment at 02:00 UTC.
What this does not do is guarantee identical store behaviour everywhere. Regional storefronts, Epic's client, and console pre-order preloads can each show their own countdown, and a few minutes of drift on the night is normal. Treat the countdown attached to your own purchase as authoritative if it disagrees with this table.
What to check now that it is live
| Priority | Check | Where |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Any countdown still showing in your region | Refresh the store page; the unlock has already happened |
| 2 | Preload completed, then the ~5 GB patch installed | PS5 downloads list or Steam library |
| 3 | 145 GB installed with 300 GB free during preload | Platforms and system requirements |
| 4 | NVIDIA driver on 617.42 if you are on 621.01 | Day-one patch guide |
| 5 | Editions and post-launch purchase options | Editions guide |
| 6 | What reviewers said before you commit | Review scores |
Planning note: this page records a completed launch, not a countdown. If a store page still shows a timer, it is stale — the unlock happened at 02:00 UTC on October 29. What still differs by machine is download speed, patch size, and whether the ~5 GB update finished installing.
